This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update. Online Platforms Response Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services. The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Updates Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Member Stories A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated. Required Changes Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained. Service Background The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
